Call recording is an essential requirement in today’s day and age. It can come in handy for various reasons including transcribing interviews and recording lessons that users would want to go back to. People have moved towards WhatsApp for messaging and calling. While call recording is convenient with regular calls, there are also ways of recording a WhatsApp call. Now, WhatsApp does not support native call recording and it is relatively easier to record a call from your phone recorder than on WhatsApp. However, the trick can be done by using workarounds. It is still comparatively easier to record a WhatsApp call on Android than on an iPhone, as Apple does not allow third-party apps to access the microphone and a phone app at the same time. But there is a way, a little tedious one at that, that does the trick. Users should make sure that they take permission from the person whose call they are going to record.

To record a WhatsApp call on Android:

If your phone does not have a voice recorder you can download Google's Recorder app from Google Play Store or an app called the Cube Call Recorder. Both the apps are free and can come in handy to record calls. Cube Call Recorder supports the automatic recording of incoming calls and calls recordings through various apps. The Cube Call Recorder in its Play Store description notes that the app can record phone calls, Signal, Skype 7, Skype Lite, Viber, WhatsApp, Hangouts, Facebook, IMO, WeChat, KAKAO, LINE, Slack, Telegram 6, and Messenger 6. The app also allows users to mark important moments by shaking their phones. It also allows users to store their recordings in its cloud backup and a silent mode that hides the widget as well as the app.

There are some caveats to using the cube call app. It will not work on iOS devices. Android users can follow the given steps to record a WhatsApp call:

-- Install the Cube Call Recorder app on your phone that has WhatsApp. -- Open Cube Call Recorder and then switch to WhatsApp. -- Call the person you want to talk to. -- Once enabled, the cube call widget will light up once enabled and in use. Users can select the Force VoIP call as a voice call if they get an error. -- Repeat the steps, and in case the widget does not light up, it will not work on your device. Coming to iPhones, Apple does not allow third-party apps to access the microphone and a phone app at the same time as a result of which the screen record feature and the voice memo recorder on your iPhone cannot be put to use.

Further, there are no App Store apps that support call recordings. The workaround can be a little tedious, and the easiest way to record your WhatsApp calls from an iPhone is that you don’t. This does not mean you will not get a hold of the call recording but you may just not get it on the iPhone as it will be convenient for you to record a call from another phone while keeping the speaker on.

-- Alternatively, Mac users can connect their iPhones to a lightning cable and can get the job done. -- On your iPhone, select Trust this Computer. -- Open QuickTime on the Mac. -- Go to File and select New Audio Recording. -- Go to QuickTime, select the arrow pointing downwards next to the record button. -- Select iPhone. -- Press on the Record button in Quicktime. -- Make WhatsApp call using your iPhone. -- Press on the Add user icon, select the contact whose call you want to record. -- Disconnect the call after the conversation is done. -- Stop recording in QuickTime and save recorded files on the Mac.
